A Cosmelan peel is the world’s leading professional depigmentation method designed to eliminate or reduce hyperpigmentation, while unifying skin tone and enhancing skin luminosity. A Cosmelan treatment includes a complimentary Home Care Kit- consisting of skincare containing Kojic Acid, Azelaic Acid, Hydroquinone, Hydra-Vital Factor K (Vitamin K cream) and sunscreen. These products are used after the Cosmelan mask is removed to maintain the effects of the procedure and keep skin clear and pigment-free. Strict sun avoidance and a mineral sunscreen with an SPF 50+ are necessary to prevent melasma and hyperpigmentation from reoccurring.

About The Treatment

A Cosmelan Peel is relatively quick and painless. The treatment takes about 30 minuteshowever, once applied, the mask must be worn for a period of time following application. This mask is dark in color, contains Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Arbutine, and Titanium Dioxide and has an appearance similar to peanut butter. The mask should remain on the face for 8-10 hours, but the total amount of time depends on your skin type and the amount of hyperpigmentation being treated. At the end of the time specified by your medical provider, you will remove the mask by carefully cleansing the application area with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water.

The Cosmelan method consists of two peel sessions.Three weeks after your initial Cosmelan treatment is when you will return for your follow up appointment. During this appointment, your medical provider will assess your progress and apply a second complimentary touch-up treatment

The final step in the Cosmelan method is a complete at-home regimen that helps to maintain the results achieved with the Cosmelan Peel, while preventing the appearance of new pigment from forming. This regimen lasts for several months and consistency is essential to ensure results. Following the initial treatment, the pigment will appear lighter in color and will continue to improve over the course of the treatment.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

Cosmelan Depigmentation is suited to skins that suffer from pigmentation, sun damage and more specifically Melasma. The cosmelan procedure will improve the appearance of:

Is Cosmelan painful?

The treatment is virtually pain free. The patient will only feel some mild to moderate discomfort post treatment with peeling and dryness in certain areas.

What is the downtime of the Cosmelan procedure?

The Cosmelan Depigmentation Procedure is an intensive resurfacing treatment that provides up to 10-12 days of downtime. Your skin will be red, swollen and warm for the first 3 days post treatment and then peeling will start. Peeling and dryness can be expected for up to 7-10 days. Sun exposure is to be avoided throughout the downtime with an SPF to protect your skin and your results. All post care products are included in your treatment price which will help speed up the healing phase.

Are there any side effects having a Cosmelan treatment?

Side effects with Cosmelan treatments are rare but easily managed. Some skins may feel a little red following removal of the in-clinic mask. This may be accompanied by some minor dryness and flaking. Any tightness may be easily relieved by applying a nurturing moisturiser such as Hydra-Vital Factor K – which is supplied in your post treatment homecare pack.

It is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure following a Cosmelan treatment and to wear a broad spectrum SPF30 every day before, during and following treatment.

When will I notice results?

Results being seen after one treatment of Cosmelan is to be expected. This can be in as little as 2 weeks post treatment or may even be 4-8 weeks post treatment depending on skin condition and concerns. Maintenance of pigmentation will always be needed due to external and internal factors.

Will my pigmentation or melasma return?

As successful as our results are with our Cosmelan procedure, Melasma is a form of hormonal pigmentation which unfortunately is out of our control. We would never guarantee that your melasma will be gone forever. We tackle the pigmentation from all angles by ensuring the corrective skincare is always being used, clinical maintenance treatments are followed whilst also referring to a naturopath to treat internally.

How many treatments are needed?

The Cosmelan treatment is performed as a once off treatment. Maintenance treatments may be recommended in your initial skin consultation.

What are the pre and post products included?

In your complete Cosmelan Procedure Package, you are required to use the Cosmelan products (this is a non-negotiable) and to follow the treatment and post care guidelines strictly given by your clinician. You will be given a Cosmelan Kit on the day of your procedure which includes the following; Hydra Milk Cleanser, Hydra Tonic, Cosmelan Maintenance 2 Cream, Anti-Stress Mask, Hydra Vital K Cream & Melan Recovery. You will also have 1x LED Light Therapy session included along with all of your follow up skin review appointments and a post treatment hydrating facial treatment prescribed by your clinician.

Cosmelan is a unique combination of active ingredients of proven efficacy that acts on the entire process of spot formation to remove the accumulation of melanin and inhibit the formation of new spots. The Cosmelan method consists of two peel sessions. During the first session, the peel will be applied to the full face and left on anywhere from 6-10 hours depending on your skin type. 21 days later you will come in for your second session. During the second peel session, the peel will be applied as a spot treatment on the areas that need a second round of lightning. Enchanted’s Cosmelan MD Treatment includes 1 Cosmelan MD Peel, a touch up treatment with your provider and a strict home-care regimen.
